May 2022 (Informal Meeting)

Informal Meeting held 19th May 2022

Items for discussion:

Terms of Reference as they refer to membership

I Brooke’s recent resignation from OPC removes her role on the CPC according to the ToR which stipulate 2 councillors from each PC, and one resident from each village – total 6. This is felt to be restrictive, and it was agreed that her drive and strategic planning skills are essential to the CPC. Ways to address this were discussed. Our views to be fed back to the 2 Chairs of OPC/NPC. She remains Chair of the Events Committee.

Feedback from Community Consultation Event on Sunday 15th May 2022

This was not well attended, but when questionnaire responses were taken together with recent comments in response to CPC posts on Facebook and the NPC Residents Survey 2021, this clearly illustrated that residents wish us to pursue –

  • All weather path around the field, accessible by wheelchairs, buggies etc and suitable for anyone with mobility issues related to uneven ground
  • Additional play equipment across a wide age group
  • Nature walk through the wildlife area
  • Community Hub - to enable events – which are very popular
  • Community Garden
  • Boules court

Detailed analysis was undertaken by I Brooke which clearly illustrates which activities should be the focus of CPC efforts and supports future grant applications.

CPC Report to joint Annual Parish Meeting on 24th May to cover:

Tasks: imminent & longer term

Stress that significant changes to the park will be driven by availability of, and successful bids for, grant funding

Action Plan to be 18 months this time, to cover to end of 2023 – intention to submit to PCs in July as approval steers programme of works and also permits and informs future grant applications

Process for sourcing/ordering supplies and materials

It was agreed that Andy Creek take the lead on purchases, liaising as appropriate with Parish Clerk and ensuring where possible that invoices/proof of purchase show customer as Parish Council to enable reclaim of VAT where appropriate
